Mimbre

From the "Grasshopper for 3D Printing" Workshop @ IED Madrid, December 2019.

In this 3 days workshop, the goal was to design and print a live-size stool prototype using Rhino-Grasshopper as the parametric design software and a Wasp3mts 3D printer.

Inspired by the differential growth surfaces found in nature and the waving pattern of objects made with wicker, we  designed the whole structure to have an organic feel to it,

from the main shape to the outter texture.

We played around with the differential growth curves until we settle on our final design!

Instructors: Gianluca Pugliese (Waspiberia), Aldo Sollazo and Eugenio Bettuci (Noumena)
